This is a list of musical works that I recommend for a young family to enjoy together. There are a few criteria for a work to be added to the list:
It must be a long-form musical work, at least 20 minutes in length. This includes albums, symphonies, compilations, soundtracks and other works that consist of multiple pieces or one long piece.
It must be appropriate for all ages. Works featuring explicit lyrics or extreme sounds will not be included. This is a highly subjective matter and I've tried to take a sensible approach to it.
It must be very highly regarded by myself, and I will also consider the work's overall critical appraisal. I won't exclude works on the basis of being obscure, but I'll favor works that are generally well-regarded.
Each work is labelled with a genre by myself. These are intended to be very broad. Please forgive me if the genre label is inaccurate.
I love music, and I want to share some of my favorite music with you. This is a gift from my family to yours, I hope you enjoy it!
